Renigunta

Directed by Panneerselvam, Renigunta speaks about young criminals and explores the reasons that instigate them to commit crime. “This idea sprang up in my mind, when I was reading about a young man (in a newspaper) who murdered an old couple for a mere 2000 rupees! I followed such articles in newspapers regularly and each case had a surprise. I was really troubled to see so many youngsters choosing the wrong path. I started to wonder what pushed them to do these extreme acts; they were not born criminals or morally depraved! Thus was born Renigunta,” says Panneerselvam.

Renigunta is a down-to-earth film which presents life of the lower strata of the society as it is. The film can also be described as a peek into the human mind and the solutions it offers to persons who face desperate situations or wretchedness.

The film is made with newcomers, including producer’s Chakravarthy’s son Johnny. Director Panneerselvam is quite confident that his film will do well and also serve as an eye-opener for society.
